The Old Varde Sommerland was a beloved amusement park in Varde, Denmark, operating from 1983 to 2002. The park was designed primarily for families with children and offered a variety of attractions, including carousels, water slides, and a roller coaster. Visitors could also enjoy dining options and activities such as mini-golf, pedal boats, and more.

Closure of the Park in 2002

Over the years, The Old Varde Sommerland experienced various highs and lows but remained a beloved destination for both locals and tourists seeking fun and adventure. However, due to financial difficulties, the park eventually closed its doors in 2002.

The park is no longer operational, and most of its attractions and facilities have been removed. Nonetheless, some remnants of the former park still exist, such as roller coaster tracks and a small collection of carousels and other rides, which are privately owned and some are still in use.

For those with fond memories of the park, it remains a nostalgic landmark in Varde and an important part of Danish amusement park history.

The Park Today: A Grand Playground

The former Varde Sommerland has been transformed into a magnificent and unique playground. This expansive 12-hectare nature reserve now offers ample space for both young and older children to play. The area features a variety of family-friendly activities and amenities, including five shelters, a barbecue hut, and restrooms. Numerous "recreational oases" provide relaxing spots throughout the park, making it a perfect destination for family outings and outdoor fun.
