The Long History of Filsø

Filsø boasts a rich history, with evidence suggesting that the area around the lake has been inhabited since the Stone Age. Remains of farmsteads and burial mounds from the Iron Age have also been discovered here.

In the 19th century, Filsø was utilized as a source of food and became a popular destination for tourism. Hotels and summer houses were constructed in the area, and several trails and bridges were built to make the region more accessible to visitors.

The Lake Was Once Drained
