Skallingen is a nature reserve located in southwest Denmark, along the Danish west coast. It is a unique and fragile ecosystem, renowned for its coastal geology and ecology. Skallingen is an important tidal area and is home to many rare and endangered species of animals and plants.

Skallingen is a unique area formed by sediments and sand, transported by wind and currents. It plays a vital role for many local communities that rely on fishing, tourism, and agriculture. The region is also home to several historic towns and villages, rich in history and cultural heritage, all closely tied to Skallingen.

To reach Skallingen by car, you’ll need to navigate a narrow asphalt road with passing spots, allowing vehicles to get by each other. If you're planning a trip to Skallingen during the colder months, it’s wise to bring warm clothing, including hats and gloves.

Special Protection is Needed

The Wadden Sea must be preserved and protected to maintain its biological balance and biodiversity, as well as to support the surrounding businesses and communities that rely on it.
